Dr. Ayse Akan is a UK-trained and registered Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience across clinical practice, research, and academia. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Essex and holds an MSc in Mental Health Studies from King's College London — two of the UK's leading institutions for clinical psychology training.
She trained and worked extensively within NHS services across the United Kingdom, gaining broad experience with children, young people, adults, and older adults in a range of specialist settings. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK, holds European registration (EuroPsy), and British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) accreditation.
Her research focuses on culturally adapted psychological therapies, psychotherapy effectiveness, and mental health in university students. She is currently holding an assistant professor position and leading two registered clinical trials and actively publishes in peer-reviewed international journals.
